I frequently work weddings with Matt Grashaw. One of us books a wedding and usually hires the other to help out. We’ve been doing it together for a couple years now and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Matt asked me to work Morgan and Zach’s wedding at Hartley Botanica, but I had no idea it was going to be so freakin’ cool. It was a science themed, Jewish wedding. Now, we already know I’m a nut for a good theme, but I had never been to a Jewish wedding before, and dude, THEY ARE SO FUN. Why didn’t anyone tell me?
They decorated with beakers and flowers. The tables were named after scientists as opposed to just being numbered. The wedding favors were these lightbulb terrariums that Morgan made and apparently spent months tending to the tiny plants inside. It was really, quite cool.
Morgan and her bridemaids wore these beautiful flower crowns that had tiny flowers and blackberries in them. They were so sweet and so pretty.
Jewish wedding are something special and I’m still really stoked that I got to work one. There are so many ceremonies and traditions and it’s all really beautiful. Everything that is done for most of the day is done with purpose and is so significant. They’re not going through the motions to humor the family; it’s truly meaningful and beautiful. I couldn’t get enough of it.
At the end of the day, it really is just a giant celebration. So much joy and laughter. This was one of my favorite weddings that I’ve had the chance to work. It was beautiful and fun and such an honor to be a part of it all.
If you want to see more or know more about this wedding, it was published on Style Me Pretty, the wedding blog. Morgan explains her planning of the wedding and how she made it all come together. It’s a cool read.
